Handmade workshops: the embryonic form of Wuxi's modern industry, Wuxi's modern industry is mostly developed from manual workshops. From Roy Jiyefang to Wuxi Pot Factory Roy Jiyefang, founded in 1837, is one of the most famous smelters in Wuxi. Originated in Yangyaowan (now Yangyaowan) outside the East Gate, the product is "Shuangji" brand iron pot, which is famous for its thin, strong fire resistance and non-bursting, and sells well in the north and south of the country. In 1950s, it moved to Zhu's former residence near Hong Kong and changed its name to Wuxi Pot Factory. It stopped production in 1980s, but the former site still exists. It has been listed as a municipal cultural relics protection unit and declared as a provincial cultural relics protection unit.

There are many rivers from shiprepair workshop to Wuxi Hongqi Shipyard, with convenient water transportation and developed shipbuilding and ship repair industry.

Place names such as "Shipyard" and "Li Shipyard" were all places where there were many shipyards at that time. After the founding of People's Republic of China (PRC), these workshops joined forces to form a cooperative. 1958 merged to establish Wuxi hongqi shipyard (the former site is now Xi Hui road 14).

From Blacksmith's Workshop to Wuxi Farm Tools Factory, "Blacksmith Lane" is near Qingming Bridge outside the south gate, which was named after many blacksmiths opened here that year. There were many blacksmiths in Wuxi in the late Qing Dynasty, which were both workshops and iron shops. Many of the first generation of national industrialists and businessmen in Wuxi were apprentices in the iron industry, and then gradually started their own businesses. 1956, some blacksmiths' workshops merged to form Wuxi Agricultural Tools Factory, a public-private partnership.

From Luyoufeng Soy Sauce Garden to Luyoufeng Soy Sauce Garden of Wuxi Flavor Food Factory, it was founded in 1852 and is a workshop for brewing soy sauce and pickles. I lived in Yanqiao, North Lane at first, then moved to Beitang Street and met Guanting Lane. 1958 was changed to Taihu sauce food factory, and now it is Wuxi seasoning food factory.

From brick kilns to Dayao Road, outside the south gate of Wuxi, Taihu Refractory Factory and brick kilns have been continuously built since the Ming Dynasty, and reached more than 100 in the Qing Dynasty, distributed on the east bank of the Grand Canal. The bricks produced are well known.

In 1950s, kilns stopped burning one after another, and most of them entered the newly-built Limin Porcelain Factory and Taihu Refractory Factory.

From Huishan clay figurine workshop to Huishan clay figurine factory as early as the middle and late Ming Dynasty, there were many clay figurine workshops in Huishan ancient town, Wuxi, which were both produced and sold, generally in the pattern of "front shop and back workshop". More prosperous in modern times. 1954, Wuxi Huishan clay figurine factory was established in cooperation, and Guo Moruo wrote the name of the factory.

Xu's Mill, the former site of Xuji Mill, is located in the east of Xinmin Road and outside the south gate. Is a flour processing workshop, selling flour from stone mill to dry knife. Now the old houses in Xushi have been listed as municipal cultural relics protection units.

National capital: Wuxi's national industrialists and businessmen, the main force of modern industry in Wuxi, first made breakthroughs in flour, silk reeling, cotton spinning and other industries. Yeqin Yarn Factory is located in Xinglong Bridge, Yangyaowan, outside the East Gate of Wuxi. It was founded by famous national industrialists Yang Zonglian and Yang Yu 1895. It is the first large-scale factory enterprise in Wuxi and the earliest commercial cotton spinning enterprise in China's modern history. It was bombed by the Japanese in 1937.

Mao Xin Flour Mill Mao Xin Flour Mill, formerly known as Baoxing Flour Mill, is located at the intersection of Liangxi River and ancient canal on the south side of Taibao Wharf outside Xishuiguan. It was founded in 190 1 year. It is the first large-scale enterprise founded by Rong and Rong Desheng, famous national industrialists and businessmen in China, and the "warship brand" flour produced by it sells well at home and abroad. It was bombed by the Japanese in 1937. 1946, Rong Yiren, son of Rong Desheng, was in charge of reconstruction.

Now it has been listed as a cultural relic protection unit in Jiangsu Province.

Yuchang Silk Weaving Factory Yuchang Silk Weaving Factory was founded by Zhou Shunqing, a famous national industrialist and businessman, in 1904. The address is in his hometown of Zhou Xin Town. It is the first machine silk reeling factory in Wuxi. 1937 was burned by the Japanese army. The old street in Zhou Xin Town was built by Zhou Shunqing for his hometown that year, and it still has some features.

Zhenxin Cotton Mill Zhenxin Cotton Mill is located in the east of Mao Xin Flour Mill, next to the ancient canal. It was founded in 1905 by Rong, Rong Desheng, Rong Ruixin and others. It is the second large-scale cotton spinning enterprise in Wuxi's modern history. After liberation, it was renamed as Wuxi No.4 Cotton Textile Factory.

The former site of Wuxi County Chamber of Commerce was founded in 1905, formerly known as Sikkim Chamber of Commerce. It was initiated by national industrial and commercial giants such as Zhou Shunqing, Zhu and Xue Nanming, and played a very important role in the development of Wuxi's industry and commerce. At present, two office buildings were built in 19 15, overhauled in 2004, and have been approved and announced as cultural relics protection units in Jiangsu province.

Jiangyin Utilization Yarn Factory Jiangyin Utilization Yarn Factory was founded in Jiangyin in 1908 by famous national industrialist Wu Yu 1908. After the establishment of People's Republic of China (PRC), it was renamed Jiangyin Cotton Textile Factory.

Wuxi Telephone Company Wuxi Telephone Company was founded by Yang Shoumei in 19 1 1, which was the beginning of telephone communication in Wuxi.

Huiyuan flour mill site Huiyuan flour mill site is located on the bank of the ancient canal in the south of Wuqiao (now the old factory area of Huguang Instrument Factory). 19 13 was founded by Zhu and others, and was later acquired by Rongshi Enterprise Group and renamed as the second flour mill. Now its old factory buildings and office buildings have been listed as municipal cultural relics protection units.

The former site of Taihu Cement Company (Xue Huidong's former residence) and its subordinate Taihu Cement Factory were jointly founded by Xue Nanming and in 192 1 year, with Xue Nanming's eldest son as the manager, which is the first cement manufacturing enterprise in Wuxi history. Later, it was closed due to losses caused by poor management of Xue. The office building of the company was built in 19 17, and then moved to the new residence where Xue Huidong, the second son of Xue Nanxuan, got married. Three existing baroque garden houses have been listed as cultural relics protection units in Jiangsu Province.

Shen Xin No.3 Factory, the full name of Shen Xin Textile Company's No.3 Cotton Mill, is located on both sides of Liangxi outside Wuxi Xishuiguan. Founded in 19 19, it is the largest cotton spinning enterprise of Rongshi Enterprise Group founded by Ronghe Rong Desheng. After the establishment of People's Republic of China (PRC), it was renamed as Wuxi No.1 Cotton Textile Factory.

Lixin Textile Printing and Dyeing Factory Lixin Textile Printing and Dyeing Factory is located on the bank of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal on the north side of Wuqiao. It was founded in 19 19 by famous national industrialists Tang Xiangting and Cheng Jingtang. It is the first cotton textile enterprise in Wuxi and the earliest spinning, weaving, printing and dyeing enterprise in China. After the establishment of People's Republic of China (PRC), it was renamed as Wuxi No.3 Cotton Textile Factory.

Qingfeng Cotton Mill Qingfeng Cotton Mill is located in Zhoushanbang area on the north side of Wuxi Railway Station. 1922, founded by famous national industrialists Tang, Xue Nanming. Tang Xinghai, the son of Tang Dynasty, managed the factory scientifically, and the enterprise got great development. After the establishment of People's Republic of China (PRC), it was renamed Wuxi No.2 Cotton Textile Factory. Now it is Qingfeng Textile Group Co., Ltd. (a listed company).

Yongtai Silk Factory Yongtai Silk Factory was originally located in Qipu Road, Shanghai. 1896 was founded by Xue Nanming and Zhou Shunqing, and was wholly owned by Xue Nanming. 1926, the whole factory moved back to Dagongqiao outside the south gate of Wuxi, which is the core enterprise of Xue's cocoon enterprise group. Xue Shouxuan, the son of Xue Nanxuan, has made great progress in modern scientific management. "Jin Lu" famous brand raw silk won the gold medal at the new york World Expo and sold well in many European and American countries. The existing old factory buildings have been listed as municipal cultural relics protection units.

Dingchang Silk Weaving Factory is located outside Niulong South Gate. It was founded in 1929 by Zhou Zhaofu, son of Zhou Shun Qing. After the establishment of People's Republic of China (PRC), it was merged into several Suzhou factories and renamed as Wuxi No.1 Silk Reeling Factory.

The trademark is "plum blossom brand". The existing old factory buildings (including cocoon storehouse and boiler room) have been listed as municipal cultural relics protection units.

Xiexin wool textile printing and dyeing factory Xiexin wool textile printing and dyeing factory is located next to Lixin textile factory. 1935 was founded by Tang Xiangting and Cheng Jingtang, with Tang Xiangting's son as the manager. It is the first wool textile dyeing enterprise in China to produce worsted wool.

Wuxi Grease Chemical Plant Wuxi Grease Chemical Plant, located on the bank of the Grand Canal on Wuqiao West Road, was founded in 1946. It is the first petrochemical enterprise in Wuxi and is now called Wuxi Refinery.

Open source machine factory Open source machine factory is located in the north of Liqiao, on the west bank of Liangxi. Founded by Rong Desheng in 1947, it is a large-scale mechanical repair enterprise in Rongshi Enterprise Group. After the establishment of People's Republic of China (PRC), it has developed into a famous Wuxi Machine Tool Plant.

Tianyuan Mafang Factory Tianyuan Mafang Factory is the first ramie textile factory in China. It was founded by Rong Desheng on the east bank of Wuxi Liangxi in 1947.
