There is no gap between China and Japan in science and technology, or China has surpassed Japan.

(1) Twenty or thirty years ago, it can be said that Toyota and Honda were everywhere in China, and China cars were rarely seen. Japanese household appliances are also household names in China.

(2) Back to today, many Japanese enterprises are stunned by the development of science and technology and the speed of technological progress in China. Frankly speaking, the level of Japanese science and technology is not higher than that of China. Although on the surface, many Japanese products are more exquisite than those in China and their concepts are better than those in China, in fact, this has nothing to do with the level of science and technology, but only with the level of process design.

(3) To measure a country's scientific and technological level, we should not only look at its manufacturing technology, but also look at its R&D capability, which must be considered comprehensively. As far as China is concerned, China is far ahead of Japan in aerospace technology, deep-sea diving technology, missile R&D and manufacturing technology, bridge and tunnel construction technology and IT development and application technology. Even high-speed rail technology has caught up with or even surpassed Japan in many fields.

(4) China's science and technology need to be improved in two aspects. First of all, military technology should be combined with civilian technology in the most effective way. Second, government and social funds should be combined, and we should make long-term investment in R&D technology in the future.
