Woody plants are solid plants whose roots and stems thicken to form a large number of xylem, and most of their cell walls are lignified.

Woody plants are generally upright, have a long life and can grow for many years. Compared with herbs, people usually call the former a tree and the latter a grass.

Woody plants are the source of wood, and all woody plants are perennial plants.

In addition, all gymnosperms belong to woody plants except Hemerocallis.

Classification method:

Woody plants can be divided into three types according to different plant heights and branches:

1. Trees: tall and upright trees with a height of more than 5.5 meters.

The trunk is obvious and the branches are high, such as pine, fir, Pterocarya stenoptera and Cinnamomum camphora. And there are evergreen trees and deciduous trees.

2. Shrub: a relatively short tree less than 5 meters in height, with branches near the base of the stem, such as tea trees, roses, hibiscus, etc. , can be divided into evergreen shrubs and deciduous shrubs.

3. Semi-shrub: This plant is a perennial, only the base of the stem is lignified, while the upper part is a herb, which withers in winter, such as peony.

Plant cultivation:

It is best to choose transplanted seedlings with good growth, strong branches, no pests and diseases and no new shoots.

Before planting saplings, the pre-dug tree pits should be filled with the original soil of10 ~15cm brought back by transporting saplings. After all the tree pits are filled, you can water them.

Cutting propagation:

Cutting, also known as cutting, is a very important method in asexual reproduction.

As the name implies, cutting is to insert various growth parts of plants into the substrate as cuttings, and after a period of time, new roots, leaves and buds will grow to form independent individuals.
