When is Luban Festival?

Luban Festival is the second day of the fourth lunar month.

Luban Festival is a traditional Mongolian festival in Xicheng, Tonghai County, Yunnan Province. On festivals, Mongolians will kill pigs and sheep, set up a stage to sing songs, and welcome the sandalwood Luban statue in the Buddhist temple in Nakamura to pay homage to the villages. Three days before and after the celebration of Luban Festival, Mongolian craftsmen who go out to work must return to their hometown to worship their ancestors before the second day of April. If they don't come back for the holidays, they will be considered as people who forget their teachers and bully their ancestors.

Because Mu Jing, the founder of Luban, and the day when he receives disciples every year are the second day of the fourth lunar month, the class calls this day Runaway from Luban Festival. On this day every year, the class will personally teach the wooden sutra and invite our disciples to hold technical competitions such as sawing, planing, cutting, drilling, drawing and engraving. The Mongolians who live here have learned architectural techniques from other brothers. Every village has to kill pigs and sheep and set up operas. People also picked up the statue of Luban carved from sandalwood, beat gongs and drums and swam straight to the village. Then, everyone gathered on the court to sing and dance.
