When is house cleaning day?

Cleaning day is the 24th day of the twelfth lunar month.

Dust cleaning day, that is, December 24th of the lunar calendar, is a year-end cleaning. Every household should clean up cobwebs, raise dust and clean up. Although it is the "24th dust removal day", it is actually the dust removal time from before and after the sacrifice to the end of the year. In some parts of China, the period from the early years (the 23rd day of the twelfth lunar month) to New Year's Eve is called "Dust-cleaning Day", also called "Spring Festival Day".

Sweeping the dust not only means driving away the epidemic and praying for a healthy New Year, but also means getting rid of the emotional desire of "old" (dust) and sending people a signal of a busy atmosphere in the New Year. This custom reflects the tradition of China people's love for cleanliness and health, and embodies people's good expectations, and it still maintains its tenacious vitality.

Introduction to customs

Every year from the Lunar New Year (the 23rd day of the twelfth lunar month) to New Year's Eve, China folks call this period "Spring Festival" or "Dust Day". Sweeping the dust is the year-end cleaning, which is called "sweeping the house" in the north and "sweeping the dust" in the south.

It is a traditional habit of China people to sweep the dust before the Spring Festival. Whenever the Spring Festival comes, every household should clean the environment, clean all kinds of utensils, remove and wash bedding curtains, sweep six yards, dust cobwebs and dredge culverts in open channels. North and south of the great river, everywhere is filled with the atmosphere of being willing to engage in sanitation and welcoming the Spring Festival cleanly.
