According to legend, in the Tang Dynasty, Li Zhaode, a magistrate of a county, was called "Lingshui" for short, which seemed inappropriate. Because there is a "Lingshui County" in the six-year literature of the great cause of Sui Dynasty, it was not named until the Tang Dynasty, which is really inappropriate. This legend is inaccurate in character and time. However, it is named Lingshui after the abbreviation of Lingshui, which is highly credible. In the old county annals, the words "ling" and "water" only appeared in three situations. The first kind of "Lingbi water", also called "Lingzha water", is Gangpo River. Second, the county name is "supernatural". Yi is another name for the old county. The third is the word "Lingshui County".
