Is sun day an auspicious day?

Sun Day is an auspicious day.

Sun Day is a folk concept, which refers to the birthday of the sun. According to folklore, this is an auspicious day. The earliest and most popular solar day in the history of China is June 19th of the lunar calendar. Rizhao has the custom of celebrating the solar festival, offering sacrifices to the sun god and celebrating the birthday of the sun. In addition, there is a saying that March 19 or the second day of February is the birthday of the sun. However, in China's lunar calendar, only June 19 is the Sun Day (that is, the birthday of the sun) and the enlightenment day of the Bodhisattva.

The Sun Festival in Rizhao has been handed down from ancient times. It is an orthodox and authentic birthday of the sun. The others are different versions of Sun's birthday. The sun worship custom in Rizhao area is the Tiantai Mountain Lower Sun Festival (Old Mother Temple Fair) with the longest history, the largest scale and the most extensive influence.

The custom of sun day

In the past, there was a custom that "men don't go to Yue Bai and women don't sacrifice to heaven", which also originated from the saying that men are masculine and women are feminine. In the farming era, on the birthday of the sun, men usually worship the sun god and the sun star. Usually, people will prepare sun cakes to worship the sun god, face the sun, burn incense and burn paper money. At the same time, the "five-color money hanging" posted on the door will be burned during the Chinese New Year, symbolizing the bumper harvest of the five grains. Folk also known as the sun money, meaning Man Cang money.

In folk, on Sun's birthday, we not only visit the Sun Palace and eat sun cakes, but also have the traditional custom of giving gifts to each other. On Sun's birthday, people "send their children" to each other. The so-called "Xiong Haizi" refers to whole grains and seeds of various fruits and vegetables. Because warm spring is the time when seeds germinate. People give gifts to each other, not only planting all kinds of grains, vegetables and fruits, but also implying a bumper harvest in Man Cang.
