What is the breeding history of golden bay yellow croaker?

Since the Song Dynasty, many Sanzao islanders have tried to breed yellow croaker (formerly known as "Coilia oleifera" or "Coilia oleifera").

During Guangxu period, the territory of Zhuhai was returned to Xiangshan County, an ancient county in Guangdong Province. There are records in Records of Guangdong and Guangxi (Xiangshan County Records), and more than 20 species of fish such as Huang Liyu are registered, among which Huang Liyu gradually stands out for its excellent edible value. With the development of history, Huang Liyu also appeared in local folk songs such as Sanzao folk songs handed down from generation to generation. The Jinwan historical and cultural series Sanzao Folk Songs and Sanzao Ballads has collected folk songs and ballads in Sanzao area since the Song Dynasty. Among them, the word "Bai Cai Lian Dui Ge" refers to "a yellow-footed owl with a net all around", and uses fish as a pun to describe people. It is also mentioned in December that "fish bones fork in March, no fish to find a home". It can be seen that the fishing season in Huang Liyu has become an important node for Zhuhai ancestors to record folk customs. In 1980s and 1990s, local fishermen conducted a high-yield culture experiment of yellow croaker in ponds, which was successful and greatly opened the prelude to large-scale culture of yellow croaker.
