Chengbei Township belonged to Taiping Township in Ming and Qing Dynasties. The early years of the Republic of China followed the Qing system. Chengbei Township is located in the northern suburb of the county seat, connected to the state-owned Nanhua Farm in the east, Maichen Town in the west, Nanshan Town and the sub-district office in the south, and the state-owned Dongfanghong Farm and Xiaqiao Town in the north. The soil is latosol with basalt development, and the land is fertile. Sanyangqiao Reservoir is located in the middle and is rich in water resources. It is a major base rich in rice, sugarcane, cassava, melon, vegetables, peppers and mangoes.

Chengbei Township has built a sub-tropical agricultural demonstration zone, forming six production bases of pollution-free vegetables, bananas, mangoes, sugar cane, sweet corn and galangal, of which the pollution-free vegetable production base is 6.5438+0.8 million mu, with an annual output of about 7.2 tons, and the banana production base is 6.5438+0.4 million mu, with an annual output of about 65,000 tons. Cucumber, eggplant, string beans, peppers, bananas, mangoes, sweet corn, galangal and other rich agricultural products are exported to all parts of the country and even abroad.

Chengbei Township has administrative jurisdiction over 14 village committees in Beishui, Beiling, Hejia, Wenfeng Garden, Song Na, Maibao, Houpoliao, Shiling, Yuan Jiale, Toupu, Xiguo, Dong Na, Taoyuan and Dahuang. Chengbei Township is close to the county seat with convenient transportation. 207 national highway runs through it, reaching Zhanjiang, Guangzhou, Zhuhai and other large and medium-sized cities in the north, haian port 10 km in the south, crossing Qiongzhou Strait and reaching Hainan, the largest special zone in China. The township has built a hard-bottomed highway 156.9 km.
