Who was the last emperor of the Southern Song Dynasty?
Zhao Min is the third son of Song Duzong and the younger brother of Song Gongdi and Song Duanzong. He was once named Xin Wang, Guang Wang and Wang Wei, and his biological mother was Yu Xiurong. In April of the third year of Jingyan (1278), she became emperor in Zhougang (now Zhounan Island in Zhanjiang, Guangdong Province) and became auspicious.
In the second year of Xiangxing (1279), in March of 19, the Southern Song Dynasty and Mengyuan fought a decisive battle in Yashan (known as the "Yashan naval battle" in history). Song Jun was defeated by the Yuan Army, which surrounded the Cliff Mountain (now Yamen, Xinhui). Lu Xiufu, the left prime minister, jumped into the sea with Zhao Min, who was only 8 years old, on his back on the cliff hill, and hundreds of soldiers and civilians died one after another.
