What are the effects of Tianzhu Huang?

Tianzhu Huang: nature and taste: sweet and cold.

Functions: clearing away heat and resolving phlegm, cooling the heart and calming the nerves: used for cough and asthma due to lung heat, excessive phlegm, delirium due to fever, convulsion in children, and silence in adults due to stroke. Often used with Bombyx Batryticatus, Coptidis Rhizoma and Fritillaria.

Usage: 3 ~ 6 grams.

Zhu Ru: Nature and taste: sweet, slightly cold.

Function: clearing away heat, resolving phlegm and stopping vomiting: used for cough due to lung heat and vomiting due to stomach heat.

Usage: 6 ~ 10g.
