What day is the 16th day of the third lunar month?
Every year, the 16th day of the third lunar month is the Old Eight-Head Festival unique to Changbai Mountain in Jilin Province. There are still many people celebrating the "Old Eight Heads Festival" in Changbai Mountain. People will go into the mountain to collect ginseng, burn paper and incense in front of the temple and kowtow to worship according to the custom of setting the mountain. People will also steam steamed bread, kill pigs to commemorate the head of the mountain god, and pray for good weather and good harvests.
On March 16 every year, it is the temple meeting of Wenwang Mountain. During the festival, local people will spontaneously come to Wang Wen to burn incense to the mountain gods, celebrate the temple fair of the mountain gods with high incense, yangko, opera singing and fasting, and pray for the prosperity of trees and people and animals.

There is a man named Sun Liang whose mother is very ill. In order to treat his mother, he and his brother went to Changbai Mountain to dig ginseng. Changbai Mountain is a primeval forest with towering trees as far as the eye can see. As a result, they found sworn brothers and finally starved to death in the mountains.
Before he died, he left a poem: "Sun, whose real name is Sun, lived in Laiyang and went over mountains and seas to dig for ginseng. I lost my good brother on the way, but I don't want to find my brother. After eating for three days, you said you were sad or not. Someone from my family came to see me, Chagu River. If anyone gets lost in the mountains again, I will be a guide god. "
Later, many poor people fled into the deep forests of Changbai Mountain. Only when they read this poem did they know that the two brothers had stepped on a wooden stick for them. Because of Sun Liang's good conscience and loyalty to his friends, future generations have special respect for him. It is said that Sun Liang became a god and was in charge of Changbai Mountain, protecting people who climbed the mountain from wolves, insects, tigers and leopards.
Since then, people who dig ginseng have called Sun Liang "the old boss". Sun Liang's tomb is in Wanchuan, Tonghua. In order to commemorate him, March 16th of the lunar calendar is designated as the "Old Eight Head Festival" every year. Whenever someone wants to go up the mountain, there will be a sacrificial ceremony, praying that the trip will be full of harvest and return safely.
