How to calculate the five-element attribute of eight characters

The theory of four pillars and eight characters has a long history and has undergone many evolutions in the process of inheritance. So far, there are two main ways to judge the five elements in eight-character fortune telling:

Xing Wu, Yin Na;

Dry five elements every day.

Yin Na's five lines are in the early stage of the development of the eight-character theory, mainly in the Tang Dynasty (the representative figure of this period is Li, and his masterpiece is Li's Life Letters). In this period, what a person's eight characters and five elements belong to is generally judged according to the year of birth. With the year as the reference point or coordinate, there is a formula to judge the five elements. Take the following "eight characters" as an example.

For example, if you were born on September 1 12, 2000, you will find that the year corresponding to this date is the year of Chen Geng, and then you will find Chen Geng's poem "The New Four Bailagin in Chen Geng" (as shown below) by comparing it with the five-line table of Sixty Jiazi. Just say that this person's five elements belong to gold, which is platinum.

The second method is to discuss a person's five elements according to his daily work (birthday). This appeared after Xu Ziping, a master of the Song Dynasty (because of him, eight-character fortune-telling is also called Ziping) developed the eight-character theory. From then to now, life theory is based on daily work as a reference point or coordinate system. This is a major breakthrough and development. Everyone has been talking about the five elements since Xu Ziping.

For example, in the above example, the sun stem is "nonyl", and it is concluded by looking up the table that nonyl water is water, so the five elements are water (as shown in the following table).
