When is the Yi New Year?
Yi people celebrate the New Year from October to November in the lunar calendar, and choose auspicious three days to celebrate the New Year. The year number of the Yi people is called Jueluoji on the first night, Kush on the first day, Duobo on the second day and Apuji on the third day. Among the Yi people, the Yi language is called "Kus". "Ku" stands for new year, and "four" stands for new meaning, that is, the meaning of new year.
It is a traditional festival for the Yi people to sacrifice and celebrate in Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. The Yi New Year is an important festival for the Yi people. From ancient times to the present, the Yi people attach great importance to the New Year and are very lively. Due to the differences in choosing auspicious days in different places, some Gregorian calendar dates are in the first half of the year, some in the middle of the year, and some in the second half of the year.
Each village spends three days in the Yi Year. So it was interpreted by Yi people for a month. Yi calendar year has the meaning of celebrating the new year, offering sacrifices to ancestors and praying for good weather, abundant crops, prosperous livestock and all the best in the coming year.

Yi nationality is the sixth largest minority in China, and its national language is Yi language, which belongs to the Yi branch of Tibeto-Burman language family of Sino-Tibetan language family. There are six dialects in North, East, South, Southeast, West and China, including five power dialects and 25 dialects. Yi people are mainly distributed between the plateaus and coastal hills in Yunnan, Sichuan, Guizhou and Guangxi.
Mainly concentrated in Chuxiong, Honghe, Liangshan, Bijie, Liupanshui and Anshun, Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture is the largest Yi inhabited area in China. ?
