Where should the beehive be placed in order to improve the honey production of bees?
The position of the hive and the orientation of the nest door are very important. In late spring, summer and autumn, it doesn't matter which direction the hive faces. Because the temperature is very high, we should consider the direction suitable for the conditions. In spring, it is best to choose a position facing the sun and the south. Especially in early spring, the weather is changeable, the temperature is very low and unstable, and the temperature in the south is high, so bees can breed and fly back, and will not be frostbitten because of the low temperature.
For example, when bees are released in winter in the south, it is best to face west. During this period, the bee colony is in the wintering period, the queen bee begins to stop production, and the bees enter the dormancy period, and the sunshine time to the west is short, which is suitable for bees to hibernate quietly. In winter, if the hive faces south, the bees can bask in the sun all day, and sometimes the temperature as high as 20℃ on sunny days will make the bees break up and the worker bees come out to look for honey sources. During this period, there happened to be no honey source in the outside world, and the bees did not fly well, which was easy to steal and kill each other, which made the bee colony premature aging and the bee colony potential declined rapidly.
Generally speaking, it is best not to face the door of the hive west, especially in autumn and winter.
In autumn and winter, the sun in the west is very serious. If it is placed in the west, it is easy to cause the temperature of the hive to rise. At this time, there is no good honey source outside, and bees are easy to freeze to death and waste sugar.
Sitting facing south is most suitable for wintering.
If bees are used as insect carriers for pollination in greenhouse, it is also recommended to face south and put them in the best light condition in greenhouse. In addition, the beehive should be placed at least 10 cm above the ground to avoid excessive daily temperature change in the beehive.
