Who is stronger, China Mobile or China Telecom?

China Mobile and China Telecom are state-owned enterprises directly controlled by the state. They all have certain strength to operate communication business in China.

Before August 2008, China Mobile was a monopoly enterprise, controlling "half of the country" in China's communication industry. China Telecom followed closely with the support of fixed-line services. However, through the adjustment (reorganization) of the communication industry in China by the National Development and Reform Commission and the Ministry of Information Industry, China Mobile merged with China Tietong, and China Unicom merged with China Netcom. China Telecom has the right to operate the CDMA mobile communication network of China Unicom and the fixed-line basic services of China Satcom on the basis of the original fixed network. At present, only three communication operators remain, namely China Mobile, China Unicom and China Telecom. Through the adjustment of industry structure, the strength of each operator is equivalent.

In terms of the number of employees, New Unicom ranks first, with nearly 500,000 employees, 300,000 mobile employees, and finally telecommunications. In terms of 3G service operation, China Telecom officially launched the 3G(CDMA 2000) network on June 6, 2008, China Mobile officially launched the 3G(TD-SCDMA) network around April 2009, and New Unicom officially launched the 3G(WCDMA) network on May 6, 2009.

In terms of 3G, China Telecom and China Unicom have obtained relatively good 3G operating licenses. Telecom hardly needs to invest too much in the new 3G network, and only needs to spend some energy on the network upgrade. China Unicom has the most proficient 3G technical standards, the most terminal (mobile phone) styles and network operation modes, and 80% of users in the world choose WCDMA 3G network services, with the largest number of countries supporting international roaming.

Although China Mobile has just obtained the 3G standard, it has won the support of the state and local governments, because the 3G license of China Mobile is a 3G standard with independent intellectual property rights. Therefore, it is too early for all operators to really compare their strength. After a period of operation, consumers will naturally know clearly.
