When is the cold food day this year?
"Cold food" is the105th day after the winter solstice, usually one or two days before Tomb-Sweeping Day in the summer calendar. This festival was founded to commemorate Jiexiu, a famous scholar of Jin State in the Spring and Autumn Period. Jiexiu was very kind to Zhong Er, the son of the State of Jin. After Zhong Er became the monarch (Jin Wengong), he wanted to ask Jiexiu to be an official, but Jiexiu didn't want to, so he hid in the mountains. In order to force him out of the mountain, Zhong Er released Yamakaji. As a result, meson tui would rather be burned to death than come out of the mountain. Later, in order to commemorate him, it was designated as "Cold Food Festival", which means to ban fire and eat cold food. According to the article "Cold Food" in Volume 4 of Xu Jian's Book of Beginners in the Tang Dynasty, the tradition of banning fire may have existed in the Zhou Dynasty. The Cold Food Festival originally lasted for a long time, about a month, and then the days gradually decreased, only a few days in January. Yuan Zhen, a poet in the Tang Dynasty, wrote in Lianchang Palace Ci: "The first cold food lasted for a hundred days, and the shop was smokeless and green." It describes the scene of the Cold Food Festival.
