Why can pine pollen be included in modern medical pharmacopoeia?
Pine pollen, also known as pine yellow, is one of the only two kinds of collected pollen in ancient medical books in China, and it is the only edible and medicinal pollen variety in China medical treasure house. More than 2000 years ago, there was a record of "Yellow Pine" in Shennong Herbal Classic, the first pharmacopoeia in China history. Looking back, pine pollen has been eaten as seasonal food in ancient China for a long time, and it is still used and added in some traditional foods. According to ancient medical books, pine pollen is "sweet in taste, warm in nature and non-toxic" and has the functions of "moistening the heart and lungs, benefiting qi, expelling wind and stopping bleeding, strengthening the face and benefiting the heart". 1000 years ago, the first pharmacopoeia published by the state in the world, Newly Revised Materia Medica, was recorded in detail. So we can proudly say that it was the Chinese nation that first developed and applied pine pollen in the world.
As an ancient medicinal and nutritional source, pine pollen is also a traditional medicine included in China People's Pharmacopoeia 1995. In recent years, the Ministry of Health has identified pine pollen as a new resource food and listed it as a general food management.
