What does "Gaotang" mean when visiting the church?

A synonym for parents in ancient society of Gao Tang Dynasty. In ancient families, the parents' bedroom was generally called the hall, which was located in the middle of the family. The floor and roof of the hall were relatively higher than other rooms. Therefore, in order to respect their parents, ancient children did not tell their parents directly in front of outsiders, which was called "high hall". So Gaotang is used to refer to the place where parents live, or parents.
