The origin of Xiao Man

Its name has two meanings. The first one is related to the growth of crops in China. After Xiaoman, the wheat in northern China is in the filling stage, when the grain will be full, so it is called Xiaoman. The second meaning is related to precipitation. In the south of China, the word "full" is used to describe the water quantity, and there is a saying that "small full dissatisfaction can stop". It means that if there is not enough water when the field is full of water, it may cause the ridge to crack.

"Xiaoman" is a very important solar term for farmers, and its arrival means a prelude to a bumper harvest. The temperature in all parts of the country is gradually rising, and the annual "summer sowing and summer harvesting" has begun. Wheat needs to be harvested, rape needs to be harvested, and rice needs to be planted ... It can be said that the mud under the feet of farmers is basically indelible.

The Book of Rites and the Moon Order recorded the important events in April of the Gregorian calendar. In terms of people's livelihood, wheat has entered the harvest period ("wheat autumn"), and wheat can be tasted new. Hundreds of drugs collected since Tomb-Sweeping Day are also stored for later use. In prison management, the government should finalize the case, stipulate some minor crimes, pardon prisoners with minor crimes, and be lenient to felons until autumn.

At this time of the year, because the farming in the fields is very busy at this time, the government should not disturb the people by building large-scale projects, nor should it cut down trees to destroy them, because the river flood season is coming, and soil and water conservation is very important.

There are also empresses who want to offer cocoons. Thank the gods for their blessing. Since the important sericulture and cocoon harvesting in a year have been completed, we can start spinning and making clothes. This is also the historical origin of offering sacrifices to the silkworm god in Xiaoman folk custom.
