Lianyungang, known as Haizhou in ancient times, is a prefecture-level city and a type II big city under the jurisdiction of Jiangsu Province. It is the oriental bridgehead of the new Eurasian Continental Bridge, the first batch of coastal open cities in China, a national comprehensive transportation hub and a strong fulcrum city at the intersection of the Belt and Road Initiative.

Located in the central coastal area of China, it is adjacent to the Yellow Sea in the east, Xuzhou City and Suqian City in the west, Huai 'an City and Yancheng City in the south, Rizhao City and Linyi City in Shandong Province in the north.

Lianyungang is a famous historical and cultural city in Jiangsu Province and a city applying for the Maritime Silk Road.
