"Jiujiu", also known as "Winter Jiujiu" and "Cold Jiujiu", is an ancient folk method to calculate the dates of cold days and spring flowers. In ancient times, the counting of nine started from the day after the twenty-second solar term "Winter Solstice" in the twenty-four solar terms, and counted as nine every nine days, and so on. Count nine "nine days" and it's time for spring to bloom and prepare for spring ploughing.
