Spring Festival customs in various places and their relationship with geographical environment, (preferably with pictures)

Diet: jiaozi in the north, steamed rice cakes in the south, fish in coastal areas such as Zhejiang for the New Year; Entertainment: In the north, such as Shanxi, there is a custom of watching lanterns, and in the south, such as Guangzhou, there is a custom of visiting flower streets in the New Year.

1. Diet: jiaozi is eaten in the north during the New Year, wheat is grown in the north, jiaozi is made of flour, and steamed rice cakes in the south are made of glutinous rice. These differences are mainly due to the subtropical monsoon climate in the south, which is hot and rainy, with monsoon paddy field agriculture as the main climate, while the temperate monsoon climate in the north, with less precipitation and lower temperature, is mainly planted in dry land suitable for drought-tolerant wheat growth, with commodity grain agriculture as the main one.

The temperature in the north is low, all kinds of flowers wither in winter, the temperature in the south is high, and there are many night markets. The warmer temperature in the south during the Spring Festival provides conditions for the survival of many flowers. Therefore, it is a custom in Guangzhou to go shopping in Flower Street before New Year's Eve. People can see all kinds of oranges and flowers on the road.

3. In Yanbei area, a thing called "Wanghuo" is built with carbon every Spring Festival, which is a bit like a pagoda with different sizes. On New Year's Eve 12 o'clock, the whole family lights up, and then goes around Wanghuo three times in the forward direction and three times in the reverse direction, praying that everything will go well in the coming year, so as to get off to a good start. This is because Wanghuo needs to consume a lot of coal resources, and Shanxi and other areas are rich in coal resources.

According to the historical inference of coal development and utilization, the modern form of flourishing fire can be traced back to the Han Dynasty at the earliest, and it has penetrated into the customs and people's feelings in ancient times, so the custom of flourishing fire was formed in northern Shanxi. After being lit, Wanghuo burns vigorously, so it means Wanghuo, which indicates that people's luck will be prosperous within one year.
