The custom of Horqin Mongolian at the age of 20
Mongolians advocate white, and call the first month of the lunar calendar Chagansa Day (Bai Yue), that is, the Spring Festival.
On the first day, everyone got up early. According to the old custom, the New Year is celebrated at the beginning of the morning. The head of the household took the whole family to the yard to worship the heavens. Then go back to the house to worship Buddha, worship the elders and have breakfast. Breakfast is mostly jiaozi. After that, the lay man bowed to the direction indicated by the Gregorian calendar 100 and prayed for good luck. Call it "leaving footprints". Then, young people go to various places to pay New Year greetings. Worship elders recite greetings for them and wish them good luck.
On the fifteenth day of the first month, the Lama Temple danced "Tea Horse Dance", and people went to nearby temples to watch "Tea Horse Dance" (jumping ghosts). Guan Gong roasted pig's head. At night, lanterns are lit and hung.
On the 25th day of the first month, the Mongolian people in Horqin paved a circle with plant ash in the yard, buried the seeds of miscellaneous grains, and took them out to mix with grain seeds after sunrise to pray for a bumper harvest.
2. Qingming
Tomb-Sweeping Day and Horqin Mongolians went to the ancestral graves to add soil for sacrifice. When adding soil, pick the soil about fifty or sixty steps away from the grave. And burn cigarettes, wine, tea, cloth and fried rice to the ancestral grave. If the ancestral graves are in two places, we can move together on this day.
3. Dragon Boat Festival
Mongolians believe that everything before sunrise on the fifth day of May is a magic medicine. They look down at the drinking well in the morning, and then wash their faces and gargle with rootless water (not on the ground). You should also collect mugwort leaves in the wild to block your ears and hang mugwort leaves on doors, windows and cabinets to show immunity and avoid insects. The summit shows longevity. If there is a lake nearby, young people must go swimming before sunrise. If there are no lakes, well water can be used to water them. Eggs will be boiled this day, and they must be taken out for the night before. It is believed that medical students can become good doctors if they learn from their teachers on this day.
4. Thousand Lights Festival
1October 25th is the anniversary of the death of Zong Kaba, the founder of the Yellow Sect. On this day, the Lama was invited to chant Buddhist scriptures, give alms to temples and pray for his children's longevity. Those who have no children go to the temple to beg for their sons, and those who want their sons to be lamas send them to the temple. Knead buckwheat noodles into a big bowl, put oil in the wick, and then light it. This is the so-called "lighting a thousand lights for Zong Kaba".
5. Sacrifice with fire
Legend has it that on the 23rd of the twelfth lunar month, all the gods who dominate the world report to heaven. Vulcan is in charge of good and evil on earth, so every family has to make sacrifices before Vulcan goes to heaven in order to say good things. On this day, yellow rice porridge is usually boiled with butter and red dates, and chopsticks tied with white cloth strips are inserted, which is called "paste the mouth of Vulcan".
6. New Year's Eve
This is the last day of the year. If there is no 30th, the 29th will be New Year's Eve. On this day, we burn incense to worship Buddha, paste New Year pictures, paste Spring Festival couplets, eat "Buhuli" (hand barbecue), burn paper to worship ancestors, and light lanterns at night. The whole family get together for fun.
