The press release provided by Jiangxi stated as follows: After being studied by Fuzhou Municipal Committee and reported to the Standing Committee of Jiangxi Provincial Committee for deliberation, it was decided to remove Comrade Qiu Jianguo from the post of secretary, standing committee member and member of Yihuang County Committee. Su Jianguo was removed from the post of deputy secretary, standing Committee member and member of Yihuang County Committee, and nominated as the county magistrate of Yihuang County Government. The appointment and removal of the county magistrate shall be handled in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.

After the self-immolation incident, Yihuang officials arbitrarily prevented the families of the victims from going to Beijing, and after the death of Ye Zhongcheng, the uncle of Zhong's family among the three self-immolators, nearly 100 people were dispatched to the hospital to take the bodies and forcibly control the five Zhong's families, which aroused public anger.
