Confucius Temple is a group of large-scale ancient buildings, which have experienced vicissitudes and been abandoned several times. This is the place where Confucius is sacrificed. As one of the four major Confucian temples in China, it is known as the scenic spot of Qinhuai, which has become a characteristic landscape area of the ancient capital Nanjing and a famous tourist attraction at home and abroad. Confucius Temple was not only the cultural and educational center of Nanjing in Ming and Qing Dynasties, but also the first cultural and educational building complex in southeast provinces at that time. Confucius Temple was built in the Song Dynasty, which is located beside Gong Yuan Street on the north bank of Qinhuai River. Qinhuai River in front of the temple is Chi Pan, and the stone brick wall on the south bank is the zhaobi, with a total length of110m and a height of 20m, which is the highest zhaobi in China. There are Juxing Court and Lesige in front of the North Shore Temple. On the central axis, there are buildings such as Lingxing Gate, Dachengmen, Dacheng Hall, Mingdetang and Zunjing Pavilion. In addition, there is Kuixing Pavilion in the east of the temple.

"The Qinhuai River in the area washed away the mud of the previous dynasty, and the Millennium Confucius Temple has a new look in ancient times." Confucius Temple is a temple dedicated to Confucius, also called Wenxuan King Temple, or Confucius Temple for short. As a scene of Qinhuai, the ancient city of Jinling, it has become a famous tourist attraction at home and abroad. Confucius Temple was built in the first year of Song Jingyiu (1034). After many vicissitudes, it has been abandoned. After the current government allocated funds for renovation and reconstruction year after year, the ancient buildings of Confucius Temple, with Dacheng Hall as the main body and both Ming and Qing styles and street views of the temple city, have sprung up.

Since the reconstruction of 1984, the Confucius Temple has received more than 80 million tourists, and tens of thousands of people come for sightseeing and shopping every day, which can reach 300,000 people in the tourist season. People jostle shoulder to shoulder and linger to enjoy the charming scenery of Qinhuai.

Now Confucius Temple has become an important scenic spot in the Shili Qinhuai scenic belt with rich architectural style in Ming and Qing Dynasties. It takes Dacheng Hall as the center, north and south as the axis, and is symmetrical left and right, covering an area of about 26,300 square meters. Now it has been listed as a municipal cultural relics protection unit.
