Where is Maicheng in the Three Kingdoms period now?

Maicheng is located in Lianghe Town, dangyang city City, Hubei Province, more than 20 kilometers away from Yuyang Town in the urban area.

In the 24th year of Jian 'an in the Eastern Han Dynasty (2 19), Guan Yu, the general of Shu, was defeated by Wu and retreated here, so there is a legend that "Guan Yunchang lost Jingzhou and defeated Maicheng".

Because of the secret collusion between Sun Quan and Cao Cao, the situation of Jingzhou dispute in the twenty-four years of Jian 'an quickly changed fundamentally. Under the attack of Cao Cao and Sun Quan, after Guan Yu lost Jingzhou, he was caught between Scylla and Charybdis, unable to enter or retreat, and finally defeated Maicheng and died in the line of duty, thus Liu Bei Group lost Jingzhou forever.

For thousands of years, the city has been eroded by floods and covered by quicksand. Now, only ruins are left in Maicheng, which is 600 meters long from north to south, 100 meters wide and 30 meters high, like a hill lying across the Qushui River. There is no city in Maicheng, only a section of earth wall.

In the 14th year of the Zhou Dynasty (506 BC), Wu attacked Chu, and Wu Zixu built two cities, Donkey and Mill, to attack this city. Therefore, there is a proverb that "there is a donkey in the east and a mill in the west, and the wheat city is broken."
