When is the rainy season in Shanghai?
The rainy season in Shanghai is generally from early June to mid-June and from early July to mid-July. However, it should be noted that the time of entering and leaving plum blossoms may change due to climate and other factors. For example, in 2023, the plum blossom time in Shanghai will be June 12 and July 16. Meiyu season refers to a period of continuous rainy weather in early summer in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River and southern Japan. In Shanghai, the precipitation and precipitation intensity in rainy season may be different every year. For example, in some years, the rainy season will show the atypical characteristics of more rainfall, stronger precipitation intensity and more high temperature days. Meiyu weather mainly occurs in the south of the Yangtze River, the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, the Jianghuai area, South Korea and the Japanese archipelago in China. Meiyu season is called "Meiyu" because it coincides with the ripening of plums in Jiangnan.
