Distribution of the Mediterranean Himalayas along the Pacific coast

There are two major seismic zones in the world: the Pacific Rim seismic zone and the Mediterranean-Himalayan seismic zone. The former concentrates more than 80% of shallow earthquakes (0-70km) and almost all the central earthquake sources (70-300km).
