Three methods for calculating the age of China people
Nominal age
Nominal age: one year old at birth and one year old every Spring Festival. It means how many years you have lived in name. People in ancient China seemed to pay more attention to the nominal age.
Real age and one year old
Real age and full age are roughly the same: one is zero at birth and grows by one year every birthday (not the next day). The actual age refers to the lunar calendar, and a year refers to the Gregorian calendar. It means how long you have actually lived (sometimes it means how old, months or years and a half).
Birthday's "Men Enter Women Full"
Traditionally, there is a saying in China that "a man is full on his birthday". For example, for a man's 50th birthday, he turns 49 (turns 50), while for a woman, he turns 50 (has reached 50).
Irregular algorithm
There are still many irregular algorithms among ordinary people in China (for example, how to calculate the first half of the year and how to calculate the second half of the year), which all stem from misinterpretation or attempts to save trouble. One of them seems to be more popular than the formal one, because the calculation is simple: subtract the year of birth from this year's year, but it has no exact meaning and will not evolve into something formal.
