What do you mean by the extinction of Buddha? What do you mean by the Buddhist scriptures that Buddha has a life span?
Extinction means that the Buddha died in this world because of reincarnation (while the Buddha's body is still in the world of China and Tibet, and the Buddha's dharma body is immortal).
Buddha has dharma body, sovereign body and metaplasia. There are billions of buddhas in the ten-square world. If all beings in that world are exhausted, the life of the buddhas in that world will be exhausted. The Buddha's life is infinite, and the Buddha's body is immortal.
