Who knows what these two are? Why?

This is cattail, originally from China. It is a perennial herb with plant height 1.5 ~ 2.5 meters, fibrous roots, aboveground pseudostems and underground rhizomes. Fiber crops. Alias pollen typhae and cattail pollen. Typha is the raw material for making artificial cotton and paper. Leaves and false stems are the raw materials for weaving cattail and straw mats respectively. White pseudostems and rhizomes can be used as vegetables, and cattail pollen can be used as medicine. Seeds, also known as velvet, can be used as pillow fillers.
