Jingxiang etiquette

Also known as offering incense, the world often calls it burning incense. The purpose of burning incense is to "send a message with incense", that is, to reach the gods through cigarettes with people's sincerity. As the saying goes: "A pillar is really fragrant, and it is blessed to be the highest." There are two ways to burn incense: burning incense and burning incense. Burning incense is more common, and it is a ritual for Taoist priests and believers to sacrifice to God with thread incense (or incense or incense) on weekdays.

One: incense burning method

Specific practices:

(1) Choose three sticks of incense and don't cut them off.

(2) ignite incense (if there is an open flame after ignition, it can be extinguished left and right, and cannot be blown out with breath).

(3) Facing the idol, hold the incense with both hands (flush with the forehead) and bow down and salute.

There are five kinds of incense, namely sandalwood, agarwood, Yunxiang, rosewood and Solanum nigrum, which are "precious five fragrances". Sandalwood is the most commonly used, so burning incense is also called burning sandalwood. Burning sandalwood is more particular. The incense should be split into one minute thick and one inch long; There must be a special incense burner (called sandalwood burner) and some fragrant noodles (usually ground into powder by thread incense instead). Before burning incense, use a spoon (such as a small spoon) to dig a small hole in the middle of the sandalwood stove, bury it in the fragrant noodles, smooth it with the spoon, and cover the fragrant noodles with a layer of fragrant ash. Then, light a little thread incense folded into one inch in advance, and insert the burning end into the incense surface. When burning incense, use your left hand to put three incense sticks into the furnace three times, and put them up and down (first in the middle, then in the left, then in the right) or something. Meditate while burning incense.

"Zhu Xiang Mantra": "The Tao is taught by the heart, and the heart is fake (borrowed). Incense burns a jade furnace, and the heart is in front of the emperor. According to etiquette, people burn incense every day. Nowadays, people are busy with their lives. I usually ask to burn incense on the first and fifteenth day of each month (in addition, according to the Taoist book Xu Zhenjun Jade Sagger, there are the following days: ecliptic day, Jiazi day, B ugly day, E Chen day, Japanese day, B Hai day, Japanese day, B You day, Sunday and B Wei day. We must build a platform to worship these ecliptic days. Some of you may not know this, but important festivals and Taoist three-meeting days should be burned with incense. Sanyuan is the fifteenth day of the first month, the fifteenth day of July and the fifteenth day of October in the lunar calendar. The third meeting is the seventh day of the first month, the seventh day of July and the seventh day of October. On these special days, there are more blessings than usual, the most is 10 times, and the smallest is a small auspicious day. So if you want to worship the god of wealth, remember to burn incense these days. As the saying goes, so is burning incense and worshiping God.

One: Three Rites and Three Knocks

Taoism pays tribute to the so-called "August 1"; Step on gossip, hold one in your arms and press your cross. When you salute, your hands are not above your eyebrows, but below your knees. The specific method of worship is! Stand upright, eyes down, calm, and the second one is about five inches from the kneepad, two inches from the heel and eight inches from the toe, forming an external figure of eight. Hands intersect in front of the abdomen, and the thumb of the left hand holds the root of the ring finger of the right hand. The thumb of the right hand gently pinches the middle finger of the right hand, and the other four fingers of the left hand hold the right hand and make a bow. When saluting, hands and nose should not be higher than nose. Then the palm is inward, the palm is backward and outward to draw an arc, the inner part slides on the chest, and the right hand draws an arc downward, right and left, while bending downward. The center of the right hand presses down on the mat, and the left hand encircles from the chest arc to the left and right, and presses on the back of the right hand to overlap with the right hand to form a cross. Kneel on the mat at the same time with both forearms touching the mat at the same time. The tip of the elbow is in a straight line with both knees, and the head knocks on the back of both hands. After the head knocks, the body looks like a toad. Raise your head, retract your heart with your left hand, retract it tightly with your right hand, hold your hand as before, and stand up. This is a ceremony and a beating. Move slowly, comprehensively and continuously from beginning to end, and don't stop. In this way, three rituals and three knocks are completed. This is a step backwards and a ceremony. In situ, the head of the temple turned to a ceremony. At this time, the three worships and three knocks are over.

Two: Three Rites and Nine Knocks

Three rites and nine knocks are the great gifts of Taoism. Every first and fifteenth day. On Taoist festivals, such as Christmas, the abbot and the prison yard lit incense, and these three gifts and nine taps were made when Zhuang officials and Taoists prayed for good luck and birthday ceremonies. Its practice is basically the same as the three rites and three knocks, but the difference is that the three rites and three knocks are one ceremony and one knock. Is to kneel down and kowtow before getting up. Three rites and nine knocks are one ceremony and three knocks, that is, kowtow after kneeling (tap three times when kowtowing, don't ups and downs). So bow down three times, that is, three rituals and nine knocks. After three rites and nine knocks, step back half a step. After one ceremony, turn to the leader of the Duty Hall and pay a tribute.
