The Physical Geography of Longtang Town

Longtang Town is located in the low latitude area south of the Tropic of Cancer, with an altitude of 30- 100 meters. It belongs to tropical maritime monsoon climate with abundant rainfall and pleasant climate. The annual average temperature is 23.86℃, the annual rainfall is1750mm, and the annual wind direction is northeast wind. The surface water system in the territory is mainly Nandujiang (Nandujiang is the largest river in Hainan, with its main stream 3 1 1.3 km long and 75 km long flowing through Qiongshan). Longtang Town belongs to Yangshan hilly area, where the land is mainly exposed by volcanic rocks and covered by red soil, belonging to basalt layer area, and the soil is mostly gravelly soil composed of volcanic ejecta basalt. The total land area is 38.79 square kilometers, including 5680 mu of dry land, sloping farmland 10909 mu, and 0.53 mu of cultivated land per capita. The urban drinking water intake is located in Longtangba, Longtang Town, making Longtang an important drinking water source protection area in Haifu area.
