How to prevent pinkeye

Red eye disease and its prevention and treatment

Commonly known as "pink eye" is infectious conjunctivitis, also known as fire eye outbreak, which is an acute infectious ophthalmia. According to the different causes, it can be divided into bacterial conjunctivitis and viral conjunctivitis. Their clinical symptoms are similar, but viral conjunctivitis is the most popular and harmful. This disease can occur all year round, especially in spring and summer. Pink eye disease is an eye disease spread by contact, such as contact with towels, washing utensils, faucets, door handles, swimming pool water, public toys used by patients, etc. Therefore, the disease often spreads widely in kindergartens, schools, hospitals, factories and other collective units, leading to outbreaks.

Pink eye is usually the appearance of both eyes one after another. At the early stage of the disease, the patient felt burning eyes, burning pain, photophobia and jealousy, and his eyes were sore, like entering sand, and then his eyelids were red and swollen, afraid of light and tears. When he gets up in the morning, his eyelids are often blocked by secretions and he can't open them. Some patients have small bleeding spots or bleeding spots on the conjunctiva, and the secretion is mucus purulent. Sometimes a gray-white pseudomembrane is formed on the surface of eyelid conjunctiva, and there may be gray-white infiltration spots on the edge of cornea, which may be accompanied by headache, fever, fatigue, preauricular lymph node enlargement and other systemic symptoms.

Pink eye disease generally does not affect vision. If a large number of mucus purulent secretions adhere to the corneal surface, temporary blurred vision or rainbow vision (rainbow-like aperture in front of eyes) may appear. Once the secretion is wiped off, the vision can become clear. If bacterial or viral infection affects the cornea, it will aggravate photophobia, tears and pain, and vision will also decline to some extent.

The onset of pinkeye is acute, and it usually starts within 1 ~ 2 days after being infected with bacteria, mostly in both eyes. It is highly contagious. After the cause is cured, the immunity is low, and it can be infected repeatedly (if it comes into contact with the patient again), ranging from a few months old baby to an old man of 80 or 90 years old. The epidemic is very fast. After suffering from pinkeye, one person often gets sick, which causes widespread spread in the whole family, kindergartens, schools and factories within 1 ~ 2 weeks, and a large number of patients, both men, women and children, are infected.

Matters needing attention

Pink eye disease is a highly contagious eye disease. Therefore, the prevention of pink eye, like other infectious diseases, must grasp three links: eliminating the source of infection, cutting off the route of transmission and improving the body's resistance. Actively treat patients with pink eye disease and isolate them appropriately. In the process of treating pink eye, try to avoid contact with patients and their used items, such as washing towels and washbasins. Try not to go to public places (such as swimming pools, theaters, shops, etc.). Personal articles (such as towels, handkerchiefs, etc. ) or kindergartens, schools, barbershops, bathrooms and other public goods should be disinfected and isolated (boiled and disinfected). Individuals should be careful not to rub their eyes with dirty hands, cut their nails frequently, and wash their hands before and after meals. Use antibiotics or antiviral eye drops when conditions permit.

The affected eye should be opened, but it can't be covered, because after covering the affected eye, the eye secretions can't be discharged, and the local temperature and humidity of the eye increase, which is beneficial to the reproduction of bacteria or viruses and aggravates the condition.

It is advisable to have a light diet, but not to drink alcohol.

treat cordially

After you get pink eye, you should actively treat it. Generally speaking, it requires timeliness, thoroughness and persistence. Once found, treat immediately without interruption, and continue to treat 1 week after the symptoms completely disappear to prevent recurrence. Treatment can wash your eyes. When there are a lot of eye secretions, it is advisable to wash the conjunctival sac with appropriate cleaning agents such as normal saline or 2% boric acid water, 2 ~ 3 times a day, and wipe the eyelid margin with sterile cotton swabs. Eye drops or ointment can also be applied to the affected eyes. If it is a bacterial infection, the most effective antibiotic eye drops can be selected according to the detected strains. According to the severity of the disease, apply/kloc-0 every 2-3 hours or every hour. Commonly used eye drops are 10% ~ 20% sodium sulfacetamide, 0.3% norfloxacin, 0.25% chloramphenicol, etc. You can order antibiotic eye drops, such as ciprofloxacin, before going to bed at night. For conjunctivitis infected by mixed viruses, in addition to the above drugs, antiviral eye drops can also be used, such as 0. 1% hydroxybenzoxazole eye drops and 0. 1% peptide butylamine emulsion for adenovirus, 0. 1% herpes simplex and 0. 1% acyclovir eye drops for parvovirus, 2-3 times a day. Bacterial culture and drug sensitivity test can be carried out when conditions permit, and appropriate antibiotics can be selected.

Chinese medicine can also be used to treat pinkeye, which is called storm fever or pinkeye in the sky. Generally, it is caused by exogenous wind-heat, pathogenic toxin, so it is advisable to expel wind and evil, clear away heat and detoxify, and Xie Fei Decoction and Yinqiao Jiedu Pill are commonly used.

After the inflammation is controlled, in order to prevent recurrence, it is still necessary to drop eye drops about 1 week, or use astringent, such as 0.25% zinc sulfate eye drops, 2 ~ 3 times a day to improve congestion and prevent recurrence.
