The Fifth Han Folk Tale in China —— Hunan Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Legend of Ba Long.

There is a legend of dragon in Tuoshui River Basin at the junction of Hunan and Hubei, especially Chuanshan, Taiping Town and Liangzi Township in Shimen County, Hunan Province. Nie Long is also known as "Zhuang Eight Dragons". Many places in Tuoshui Valley, such as Chuanshan, Liang Zi and Ziziping, are all related to this legend. Chuanshan, near Hu Ping, the roof of Hunan Province, used to be Chuanshan River Township, but now it has been merged into Taiping Town. Here are beautiful scenery and outstanding people. According to legend, this is the hometown of Baron (also known as Nie Long). It is said that a long time ago, there was a small lake near the present Autogenous Bridge, called Autogenous Lake. On the hillside not far from the lake, there lived a widow of the Chen family and her son. The widow's son is the later dragon. Let's call him the dragon. Shortly after Nie Long was born, Nie Long's father died of illness. Nie Long's mother and son live together and lead a poor, simple but quiet life.

Since the age of eight, Nie Long has been herding cattle to the rich every day. Because he is the widow's son, Nie Long is often bullied by the rich man's son, and he also quarrels and fights with the rich man's son many times. Every time, Nie Long's mother came to make amends and try to make up. When he got home, the dragon was beaten up, but the rich man's son pushed his luck and made matters worse. Evil dragons always endure and suffer a lot. In the young mind of the dragon, the seeds of hatred were planted, and he vowed to take revenge on the rich man when he grew up.

At the age of twelve, with the support of my uncle Xu, I entered a private school run by poor scholars in Chuanshanhe. Nie Long's uncle is a policeman in other places. He is not very rich. He just doesn't worry about food and clothing. Because Nie Long is very talented and has a good academic record, he can always recite what he wants, such as Saint Amethyst and Hundred Family Names. When there is nothing to do after reciting the book, the dragon sometimes runs out of the yard to catch crickets or pick wintersweet, and occasionally plays pranks, so it is often punished by the rulers. Fortunately, there is a big cave nearby, where dragons often play, so they run fast to avoid getting wet. After a while, the rain stopped. Not far from the cave, Nie Long found a faint red light in the grass beside the road. He walked over and saw that it was a round bead, crystal clear and glowing with red light. The dragon was so happy that he quickly picked it up and let his companions watch. When the rich man's son saw it, he wanted it. If the dragon doesn't give it, grab it. Seeing that the bead was about to be taken away, the dragon quickly put it in his mouth, and the rich man's son had to dig it out of his mouth. In the robbery, the dragon accidentally swallowed the beads, and the rich man's son gave up.

When he got home, Nie Long felt very thirsty, so he drank a cup of tea. Unexpectedly, after drinking a cup of tea, his mouth became more thirsty. He scooped up a ladle of water and drank it, but he was still thirsty. He was still thirsty after drinking half the water in the jar. Here, it happened that his mother picked a handful of water back. He drank in a bucket, his mother picked one, and he drank another. His mother picked 7749 loads, and the dragon drank 7749 loads. His mother was really tired and said, "Son, what's wrong with you today?" How can I drink so much water? I'm really tired of picking. Go to the river to drink by yourself! "

According to legend, mating is a bead formed by snake spirits absorbing the aura of mountain gods in the mountains, and it is a truly priceless treasure to collect the aura of mountain gods. The dragon ball will shine when it is placed at home, and it can change whatever it wants at home. If something eats jiaozi, it will become a dragon. When animals become dragons, their temperament will change greatly. They all think that they have a great career to do, and they will collapse and collapse, and they will be destroyed wherever they swim. At this time, God will thunder and lightning, and the storm will crush the dragon at once. The dragon was interrupted by its tail, and the pain was unbearable. He didn't understand why his mother hit him. He looked at his mother, ready to call again, and quickly fled to the lower reaches of the river. When he came to Zisheng Lake, he saw that there was nowhere to escape. In his panic, he bumped into a hill below, and the hill was knocked through. The lake brought him to the lower part of the water. Since then, the autogenous lake has ceased to exist and is connected with the water. The place where he knocked became a bridge, which was later called "autogenous bridge" and the surrounding area of the mountain was also called "crossing the mountain".

Nie Long's mother was still chasing after him, and Nie Long ran desperately along the Tuoshui River. When he came to a place with flat terrain and shallow river surface, his African paws touched the bottom of the river and propped himself up. At this time, it is not swimming, but crawling. His mother caught up with him, picked up a rice elevator outside the house on the side of the road and killed the dragon. The weightlifter was frightened by a woman who saw the dragon and lost it. The elevator hit the dragon's back and knocked off several pieces of Longlin. This place was later called Shengziping, and now it is called Shengziping.

Nie Long came to a corner near Taiping market town and looked back to see if his mother was still catching up. As a result, he didn't see his mother. He thinks that his mother was left by himself. This area was later called "Lost Niang Ping", and now he writes "Shiliangping". People also built a temple on the high side of the river called Huilongguan. After liberation, Huilongguan was demolished. Now, the science and education building of Shimen No.7 Middle School has been built where Huilong Temple is located.

Regardless of fatigue, Nie Long's mother chased for more than 40 miles in one breath before catching up with Nie Long in Kuzhuping near Dongliuxi. She picked up the stick and threw it at Nie Long with all her might. The stick missed Nie Long, but hit a piece of bluestone, which broke into eight sections at once. Later it was called "Baduanwan".

Nie Long's mother couldn't walk any further, and her son disappeared without a trace, but the tenacious mother still didn't give up. She couldn't accept the loss of her son, and she thought, even if she climbed, she would climb forward. At this time, it was dark. She stopped and walked on the bumpy road, and I don't know how many somersaults she had. She was black and blue all over. But she groaned and moved on. When she came near the market in Liangzi, she finally fell down and never got up again. This area was later called "Dead Niang Ping", and now it is written as "Ziliangping", also known as "Liang Zi". The place where she moaned was called "Niangniang Creek", and now it is called "Cherry Creek".

Nie Long was almost hit in Bajie Bay. After that, he didn't dare to stay, but he also speeded up and swam downstream for a while. Only when there was no movement behind him did he realize that his mother must be exhausted. He stayed there for a long time, but there was still no sign of his mother.

The evil dragon wanted to know what happened to his mother, so he turned and swam back. When he found his mother's body in Ziliangping, he carried it back to the bridge on the opposite mountain and buried it next to his house. After burying his mother's body, Nie Long knocked 998 1 on her mother's grave until her forehead was dripping with blood. He wants to express his condolences to his mother and try to alleviate the pain of losing her. His mother died, and there are no other relatives in his hometown. Besides, he is already a dragon, so he can't leave the water for a long time, so he went down the river directly to the East China Sea. Every once in a while, Nie Long misses his mother and wants to go back to his hometown to visit the mountain grave. Every time he goes back to his hometown, it will be flooded, because he is already a dragon. Wherever he goes, the ground is three feet high. Every time he comes back, he always washes away many riverbanks and fields. The rich man's family has the most fields and is naturally washed away the most. The rich man's family publicizes everywhere that the dragon is the dragon, and the "evil" dragon has no virtue in its ancestors. People in his hometown also say that he is a dragon. Later, the rich man said, didn't the dragon go home to visit his mother's grave? Level his mother's grave, burn the bones to ashes and scatter them in the river. There is nothing to see when the dragon comes back. There is no need to come back. When people heard this, they thought it made sense, so they followed the rich man to level Nie Long's mother's grave. Of course, Nie Long's house was demolished by them, and his bones were burned to ashes and scattered into the river. A distant granduncle in Nie Long quietly found a bone that didn't completely melt and hid it. It was not until the rich man's family died that he buried it in its original place and repaired Nie Long's mother's grave. During the Jiaqing period, in order to commemorate this mother, people also set up a big stone tablet, which has been preserved to this day.

Soon, the dragon came back. When he learned that the people in his hometown had followed the rich man to level his mother's grave and burn her bones, he certainly didn't know that someone had hidden his mother's bones. He was furious, new hatred and old hatred came to his mind together, wagging his tail, bared his teeth, walked around and got into the water. When he rises one foot in the sky, the water rises one foot, ten feet, ten feet. Monstrous floods came from all parts of the mountain. In this flood, countless fields and houses were washed away, hundreds of people were drowned, and all the rich families were spared.

Wherever Barron went, the wind raged, lightning flashed and thundered, heavy snow fell, and the waves were sky-high. All government offices were knocked down, and crops and houses were destroyed. He also threatened to throw Jiang Xiping into the sea. On this day, Ba Long's uncle Xu Zhenjun knew that his nephew had become a dragon and was in chaos. He immediately went to Shimen, Hunan Province to stop him. He grabbed a handful of sand on the ground and scattered it where the dragon must pass. Suddenly, black thorns appeared in the river. The evil dragon can't flow out when he sees this. They immediately turned around and relied on it. The place where Baron turns is now called "Longtou Bay".

Uncle Xu Zhenjun panicked when he saw that he couldn't do it. He thought: How many people should suffer if my nephew wants to take Jiang Xiping to the sea? Besides, if the dragon enters the sea, it will be ambushed by Dapeng golden bird. Uncle Xu Zhenjun immediately ran to the sunflower well in Jiangxi and turned it into a noodle restaurant, which brought the dragon back to life. Nie Long, already exhausted from hunger, went to the noodle restaurant and asked for a big bowl of noodles. He just ate half a bowl of noodles, and the noodles have turned into a chain, locking Nie Long's heart, with one end still in the bowl. My uncle locked him in a sunflower well of Cycas in Jiangxi. The dragon said piteously, "When can I come out?" My uncle said, "Practice hard. After 500 years, the flowering water of the Cycas will flow backwards, and you can come out. "

The dragon looks at the wellhead every day, waiting for Cycas to blossom. Locked in a sunflower well, my mood is hard to calm, and my chains are worn thin. Uncle Xu Zhenjun throws a thick chain into the sunflower well every year. "I know I was wrong, but I want to go home to worship my mother every year." My uncle said, "Well, I miss your filial piety. I promised to go home and visit my mother in Tomb-Sweeping Day. However, I am afraid that your inferiority will not be eliminated. Every year in Tomb-Sweeping Day, I invite four immortals, wind, rain, thunder and electricity, to go home with you to worship my mother. " Ba Long turned into a dragon and flew into the sunflower well.

About the story of Xu Zhenjun's locking pile of Ba Long in Sunflower Well in Jiangxi Province, the earliest similar exposition is the "Golden Bull in Jinchi" in Liu Yiqing's Youming Road, saying that Xu Zhenjun fought dragons and put the dragon town in Jinchi. In "China Water God" (Life Bookstore 1934 edition), Huang Zhigang made a detailed investigation on the distribution of the related relics of Xu Zhenjun's legend of Jiao Jian, including as many as 30 places in Jiangxi, Hubei, Hunan and Anhui. The Collection of Notes and Interpretation of the Truth quotes a folk legend: "If you kill a snake and coke, you will know that it will eliminate the harm to the people. Considering that Zhang Yu is a cave in Jiaozhou, Fuzhou, cast iron is used as a pillar in the well in the south of Fucheng, and eight ropes are put under it to lock the cave. So the water demon held her breath. " In the oral legend "Xu Zhenjun Catch Coke" that has been circulated in Nanchang area so far, he suppressed Jiao Jing with an iron column and said, "I will let you out when the Cycas blooms." Later, people actually cast an iron column to stand there and built an "iron column palace".

Knowing that the dragon was endangering the village, the Jade Emperor sent the old gentleman to catch the dragon. In order to prevent the dragon from resisting, the old man decided to outsmart the dragon, so he found the dragon's uncle Xu Zhenjun and asked him for help.

The evil dragon came back after revenge. As soon as he entered the Yangtze River, he saw a boat sinking in front of him somehow. A man fell into the water, flopped about and shouted for help. The dragon recognized that the man was his uncle, so he went to save him and sent him back to where he was a policeman.

Nie Long's uncle went back to his residence and cried with Nie Long, but after a while, he went into the back room with a heavy heart and gave Nie Long a big bowl of noodles by express. Nie Long took the bowl of delicious noodles and began to eat it without thinking. This is a delicious food that he seldom ate before! Unexpectedly, his uncle sat down in front of him and said, "My poor nephew, I'm sorry!" " ! What kind of noodles are you eating? That's the old man's chain! "Hearing this, the dragon quickly spit out the noodles and threw up a lot. It is indeed a chain, but there is still a part he can't spit out. When he pulled hard, his heart, liver and five internal organs all hurt badly. At this time, the old man came out of the house, picked up the chain and said, "You just drowned the rich man's family. How can you make so many people suffer? "The Jade Emperor sent me to subdue you, so you can go to Guihuajing, Jiangxi to reflect!" Nie Long's uncle added, "I'm really sorry for you, nephew, but you really shouldn't have drowned so many people! Don't blame anyone, reflect on yourself and strive for the leniency of the Jade Emperor! " The evil dragon took a complicated look at his uncle and followed the old gentleman to the throne. Grandfather took him to Jiangxi, locked him in a sunflower well, and planted a Cycas by the well, saying that the Cycas opened and the river flowed backwards before letting him out. Balong was locked in the sunflower well, and later the monk settled in Longtouxiang Temple in Changde. Soon, the Taoist priest in white in Longtouxiang Temple suddenly disappeared. Later, Changde people often saw a young man in white and a straw hat walking around the village to help people diagnose diseases. Strangely, no matter what incurable disease, he can be cured quickly if he is diagnosed well. He hung a green bottle on his left waist and a white bottle on his right waist. When he met a man who was dying of old age, he poured some water from a green bottle for him to drink. When you meet a critically ill person, pour some water from a white bottle for him to drink. If you drink it in one gulp, all the diseases will be eliminated. It is said to be "Ganoderma lucidum pulp". These two diseases can't be cured with water, so he spits out red beads from his mouth and wipes them on the patient's pain. Good, and he doesn't want any reward. When he asked his name, he said, just call him Juba Xiao Chen and ask where he lives. He said that he lived in Hongyanzui, He Qian. Many people packed up the travelling expenses and came to Hongyan kou to thank the doctor, but no one was found. Later, they realized that the doctor was a Balong, so everyone invited them to build a Thanksgiving Hall at the top of Hongyankou Mountain.

Later, young people in white appeared in Changsha. There is a Jia Cun in Changsha. There is a man named Jia Qianjin outside Jia Jia village, who is as beautiful as a lotus flower. One day, she took a fancy to young people in white who were practicing medicine everywhere. On that day, Miss Jia took advantage of the occasional cold and pretended to be seriously ill, which alarmed the Jia family. But Miss Jia refused the doctors invited by her father one by one and refused to see a doctor. Point out that you want a wandering doctor in white. The Jia family searched for a day before taking the doctor in white home from the street. Miss Jia asked the doctor in white to grab the medicine, fry it and feed it with a spoon. When the doctor in white shouted to leave, Miss Jia screamed and had a bad headache. I really don't understand this doctor in white who is cultivating immortality. It is clear that Miss Jia is not ill. Why does she have a bad headache? It was not until Miss Jia proposed to him that Ba Long, a doctor in white, woke up like a dream. So this immortal white dragon changed its name and surname, called Zhuangba Xiaoli, and was adopted and married in Jiafu, Changsha.

Liu Fu, a poet in the Song Dynasty, recorded the plot of Baron's marriage in Shimenzhuang in "Qing Suo Gao Han":

I met a teenager in Zhang, who dressed up and claimed to be. Xu talked with him and knew that he was not human. When he went, he said to his master, "A young man is a good jiaozi. I think Jiangxi is suffering from floods. If I don't cut it down, I'll run away. " Then I glanced at the Taoist priest's eyes and saw Jiao refining a scalper in the sand. Xu Wei, a disciple of Shi, said: "I am a black cow now, but I still fight with white towels." If you see it, you should cut it off with a sword. " In a short time, two bull-bellied men caught up, and Yu Tai took the bull stock under his sword. Because he was thrown into the west well, the black cow also went into the well, and Jiao Jing left. First of all, Jiao Jing became a smart teenager in Tanzhou (now Changsha) and had many treasures. He married Jia Yunv, was a secretariat, and often wandered the Jianghu, so he will come back with many treasures. It's empty. The cloud was stolen. A moment later, the guest of honor reported, "There is a way for you to meet the king." Jia came out and sat down. Xu said, "I heard that you have a good husband. Please get to know him briefly. " Unable to get rid of the disease, Xu snapped, "Jiao Jing is an old charm, how dare you hide!" Jiao turned into a hall, and Xu wanted to kill it in the air. He also ordered his second son to come and promised to suck it with water, just to turn it into a small dumpling. Great changes have taken place in his wife Jia's family, but his parents are willing to stop. It makes the rest of the house sink into the water and makes it move quickly. In an instant, the official building sank into a pool, and now there is no trace. Many years later, on August 1, the second year of Taikang in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, a Bai Risheng family in Xishan, Hongzhou.

This story tells that Xu Zhenjun turned into a black cow and went into the water. Jiao Jing became a beautiful boy married to a eunuch, followed by Xu Zhenjun, who wrote a heroic image of Xu Zhenjun. Ba Long's wedding stories in Shimen, Linli and Changde are completely different from the above. Ba Long was locked in a sunflower well, and then Xiu De was repaired. The dragon body is locked, but the soul turns into a beautiful teenager to treat diseases all over the world, which is deeply loved by people. Even the darling girl and butler Fu Cha secretly fell in love with him.

Another way of saying it is that Baron belongs to the pile behind the sunflower well:

Nie Long's uncle helped Grand Priest surrender to Nie Long. Feeling that he had betrayed his nephew and done a shameful thing, he was very upset, so he resigned from public office and went to become a monk. While practicing, I also burned incense to the jade emperor every day, praying that the jade emperor would forgive the dragon as soon as possible. In this way, after 8864, the jade emperor was finally moved, and he sent the old gentleman to the sunflower well in Jiangxi. The old man came to the sunflower well and hung a hat on the Cycas, indicating that he had not lost his manners. Then set the dragon free and let him work under the East China Sea Dragon King. He is also allowed to go back to his hometown once a year before and after Tomb-Sweeping Day, but no more floods are allowed. Then he took the dragon to the East China Sea.

Since then, Nie Long has crossed this mountain once a year before and after Tomb-Sweeping Day. Every time he comes back, there is always heavy wind and rain or hail, but at most it rains in Mao Mao in front of his mother's grave.

When Nie Long's uncle heard that Nie Long was released, he drowned. After his death, he was made immortal by the Jade Emperor and went to heaven.
