What is Fukuzawa Yukichi's experience as a translator?
Fukuzawa Yukichi has been eager to visit abroad and get to know western society directly. Since 1860 went to the United States as an interpreter for the Japanese diplomatic corps, he has gone abroad three times and visited Britain, France, the Netherlands, Poland, Russia and the United States. Many visits abroad broadened his horizons, made him have a deeper understanding of western capitalist society and saw the huge gap between Japan and Europe and the United States. He hopes to bring the wind of western civilization back to China as soon as possible. Therefore, during his visit, he used the little foreign exchange saved to buy a large number of foreign language books, including various dictionaries, many of which were later widely used as teaching materials.
