The Historical Origin of Reba Dance
There are many legends about the origin of Reba. According to legend, people built a nine-story temple at the intersection of Sosa River, Meili River and Shenggua River, and the rulers lured people to build this temple for them. Millary Iba, one of the founders of Karma, organized five men and five women to perform and play drums in her spare time, and held a dance every floor. After several years of construction, the temple has been built, with more drums and more dances in Reba.

It is believed that the founder of Reba Dance is Mira Riba (A.D. 1040-1 125), a Buddhist practitioner who wrote Mira Riba Daoge. Mirariba was born in a place called Qiong Xie, and Ding Qing has been called Qiong Pu Ding Qing since ancient times. It is generally believed that Millary Ba was born in Dingqing, which is known as the hometown of Reba. Legend has it that Millary Ba once killed an elephant when he was young. The elephant's skin was spread on the ground, and Milarepa danced on it to worship the gods, thus creating the Reba dance. Up to now, the props used by people to perform Reba dance also come from the legend that Millary Ba offered sacrifices to the gods. Millary Ba used the elephant's big ribs as a drum stand, the thin skin under his stomach as a drum skin, the small ribs as a drumstick, and the elephant's intestines as a mesh skirt. This legend not only painted a magical color for folk Reba dance, but also made a direct footnote for the development of dance art from the original altar to the folk.
It should be said that the origin of Reba dance is much older than Mira Riba. Its predecessor was the witchcraft or totem dance of Bonism, an ancient local religion before Buddhism was introduced into Tibetan areas. Ding Qing is an important place for the spread of Buddhism. Zheluo Temple, 40 kilometers away from Dingqing County, is the largest Bonism temple in Tibetan areas and the most complete Bonism ceremony. Experts generally believe that the first stop of Bonism spread from Ali, Tibet was Zheluo Temple in Qiongbudingqing area, and then Bonism spread to Benzi Shenshan in Linzhi. Therefore, after several years of historical precipitation, the ancient Boni witch dance has spread to the folk of Dingqing, and it has sufficient conditions and reasons to become the dance of Dingqing Reba.

According to the memories of local artists and the Tibetan "Xu Na Know Like History" written by Wang Ren Tenzin and Suolangduoji in CPPCC County, the earliest Dingga Reba was an independent dance art created and developed on the basis of the primitive folk Reba in A.D. 1040. Historically, this kind of reba dance has experienced the development and evolution from folk to temples and from temples to folk.
Dingga people have belonged to Naxiu tribe in northern Tibet since ancient times. Naxiu tribe is famous for its ability to sing and dance in all Tibet. People express their feelings in the form of songs and dances during holidays, festivals and harvest, and express their blessings for disasters. Over time, Dingga people have their own songs and dances. In the long years of evolution, they constantly absorbed and integrated foreign art, and finally formed a unique song and dance form of Dingga people-Dingga Reba.
