Is it superstition to give incense to Kitchen God in the New Year?

It is the custom of the Spring Festival to give incense to the kitchen god on the first day of the first month.

In Taoism, every year on the 24th of the twelfth lunar month, the gods ascend to heaven and make a pilgrimage. After midnight on New Year's Eve (that is, the early morning of New Year's Day), Kitchen God and other gods returned to the palace to try their best to manage and check the goodness and beauty in the world, punish evil and promote good.

Many people are used to burning incense at this time, praying for a smooth New Year and everything will be fine. It would be great if you could go to the temple to burn incense, but there may be many readers and friends who can't go to the temple to burn incense in person for various reasons, so it is the same to burn incense and light candles in front of the shrine at home.

It doesn't matter if there is no shrine at home. Open the window, simply insert three incense sticks outside the window, and sincerely pray for the true blessing of the gods. I believe that if you are sincere, you will realize it. As long as you have good thoughts, you will be protected by the gods.
