Brief introduction of daywork

During the construction process, sporadic projects or work other than the construction drawings proposed by the Employer shall be priced according to the comprehensive unit price agreed in the contract. (GB50500-2008 Code for Valuation of Bill of Quantities)

2.0.20 Daywork

In the process of construction, the contractor shall complete sporadic projects or work beyond the scope of the project contract proposed by the employer, and shall be priced according to the unit price agreed in the contract. (GB500500-20 13 Code for Valuation of Bill of Quantities of Construction Projects)

In this article, the term "daywork" is appropriately modified, and the term "sporadic projects or work beyond the construction drawings proposed by the Employer" is changed to "sporadic projects or work beyond the scope of the project contract proposed by the Employer", which is more clear and comprehensive. "Daywork" refers to a pricing method for sporadic projects or work, including labor, materials and construction machinery in shifts to complete the work. The unit price of daywork shall be determined by the bidder through bidding quotation, and the number of daywork shall be determined according to the number of daywork instructions issued by the employer.

1. is generally only included in the contract price, and is used for sporadic additional work or change work without proper details in the bill of quantities. The unit price or total contract price of daywork is generally included in the contract as an annex to the bill of quantities, which shall be filled in by the contractor according to the details listed in the daywork schedule when bidding.

2. Daily workers are commonly known as "hourly workers". When all the items listed in the bill of quantities are not included, and the possibility of such exceptional extra work is very high, and the workload of such exceptional extra work is difficult to estimate, the method of daywork schedule is used to deal with this exception. It should be pointed out that domestic projects do not use daywork very much, but there are many occasions when daywork is used under FIDIC terms.

The daywork schedule includes five aspects: general rules, daywork service, daywork materials, daywork construction machinery and daywork summary table. There are four corresponding forms, namely, daywork unit price table, daywork material unit price table, daywork construction machinery unit price table and daywork summary table.
