When is the temple fair in Silonghua Village?

In the 1920s, temple fairs and festivals prevailed in rural areas of Shijiazhuang. There are two forms, one is held regularly, and the other is an irregular rain-thanking play.

"Eight Temples in the First Month" is the temple fair of Xiqiliwan Temple in Shijiazhuang Village (now the west courtyard east of the municipal government). There is a temple of the king of hell in the temple. The eighth day of the first lunar month is the birthday of the king of hell. Good men and women from twenty or thirty nearby villages came to hades to burn incense with incense paper and banners. The boys went on a pilgrimage with gongs and drums. People in Xiumen, Licun and other villages also knocked on special drums (more than two meters in diameter, pulled by more than 20 people) to burn incense. The temple fair only lasted for half a day, and no big vendors came to participate. Only some small vendors set up stalls to sell goods, and it ended in the afternoon.

April Temple in Shijiazhuang is the "Qiliwan Temple" temple fair from the sixth day of April to the ninth day of April in the lunar calendar, and it is still the pilgrimage site of the top ten Yamaraja. There is a theater opposite the Temple of Hades. There will be a four-day performance during the temple fair. There was a sea of people under the stage, and many women and children stood behind with benches. At the same time, the temple of the king of Yan was bustling, and some old people came to kowtow and burn incense and pray devoutly. At the temple fair, there are many vendors' booths. Foreign goods, toys, groceries, silks and satins and clothes are sold everywhere. At the beginning of April in the lunar calendar, it was the time to prepare for wheat summer, and the business of farm tools at the temple fair was extremely prosperous.

"February Temple in Shijiazhuang" is to celebrate the birthday of "Farewell to Children". February 17 to February 20 in the lunar calendar, and February 19 is the official day, so it is also called "February 19 Temple". This temple is called "Old Mother Temple". The temple is not big, and the sculpture of "Seeing Guanyin" is lifelike. Covered in red, sitting firmly in the petals of the lotus, boys and girls stand side by side, and the roof and walls are full of colorful clouds. Incense is constantly burning here all year round, especially during the four days of the temple fair in February. Fireworks smoked people, steamed buns and cakes were offered one after another, and a lot of oil money was thrown into the dustpan. The person in charge of the temple must constantly take away the offerings and oil money. Farmers from nearby villages often come here to set up children. When the child is twelve years old, he will come to the temple to offer sacrifices, burn incense and send oil money. This is called a round lock.
