Urumqi Branch of the Armed Police Command College was formerly the Armed Police Urumqi Command School, which was established in 1983. It is the only primary command school in Xinjiang approved by the State Council and Armed Police Headquarters. Since its establishment 20 years ago, it has trained a large number of military talents for Xinjiang's internal security, border defense, fire protection, corps headquarters and 8660 Armed Police Force. At present, more than 90% of the cadres of Xinjiang Armed Police Corps and Armed Police Headquarters are graduates of our college, and some of them have taken up regimental leadership positions. In 2004, it was renamed as Urumqi Branch of Armed Police Command College, which changed from junior college education to undergraduate education, and basically achieved the overall goal of "running a school on a large scale, modernizing teaching and regularizing management".

In 2003, with the approval of the Armed Police Headquarters, Urumqi Branch of the Armed Police Command College and Xinjiang University jointly run a school. Xinjiang University has more than 40 professors, associate professors and lecturers with rich teaching experience and high academic level as basic culture teachers. There are 7 doctoral students, accounting for 4.2% of the total, and 23 graduate students. With strong teachers and advanced teaching facilities, it is the base for young students to devote themselves to national defense and aspire to become talents, and it is also the cradle for the Armed Police Force to train police officers.
