Folk customs of Ryan Festival
In Tomb-Sweeping Day and Ruian, there is an ancient custom of picking herbs (picking cotton and vegetables) as cold cakes (commonly known as Qingming cakes and Qingming steamed buns), folding willows and singing villagers' songs (now most Qingming cakes are replaced by cooking cakes). Cotton vegetable ice near the mountain has become a rare food, and Friedvermicelli fern on the top of the mountain has been selected as the food of friends. There are city gods patrolling the county, and some people voluntarily pretend to be judges, impermanents and prisoners of the underworld, wearing shackles to avoid disasters and attract people to watch. The city god returns to the temple, and the paper paste is impermanent, which makes people go straight; Finally, burn it with gunpowder to avoid sneaking around. The ancient custom of the city god patrolling the city has now been abolished.
In today's Tomb-Sweeping Day, city authorities and schools go to the Martyrs Cemetery to sweep graves, lay wreaths and visit the Revolutionary Martyrs Memorial Hall to remember and mourn the martyrs. In recent years, in order to prevent forest fires, the masses offer sacrifices to sweep ancestral graves, change some incense sticks, burn paper and offer flowers.
Dragon Boat Festival (the fifth day of May)
Dragon Boat Festival, commonly known as "Heavy Five", is made of zongzi, with Aipu hanging on the door and Zhong Kui painted on the wall; It is a custom to drink realgar wine, soak in orchid soup, tie children's arms with colored thread, hang sachets and row dragon boats in the afternoon. The custom of painting Zhong Kui has been abolished.
On the first day of April, dragon boat rowers opened a club and drummed in the temple of the club to raise money for the construction of the dragon boat. When the ship is built, it must be "launched" at the fifth watch of the zodiac. When launching, first put the dragon boat head on the agricultural boat in the river, and slowly row the agricultural boat to the middle of the river. After the dragon boat is launched, every rower, helmsman and drummer must be on board. The drummer hits the drum first and makes a soft sound. Each rower paddles three times with his hands in front, and then turns around. Then, with the loud sound of drummers beating their hearts, everyone vomited bayberry and shouted, "Row!" " It is to paddle forward with a fierce paddle. The troops in the ancient battlefield first "bite" an ambush, and then shout a charge, which is awesome. After the new dragon boat was launched, it was performed in a neighboring village or a village with the same surname. Relatives in neighboring villages treat each other with "fragrant tables" (wine, fruit, cakes, towels and sweatshirts). Tangxia Tangxi Dragon Boat is two gears longer than ordinary dragon boats (18), so it is called "Dragon Mother". It doesn't participate in the competition, just acts as a referee. However, the dragon boat races in villages have always been caused by "village enmity", and since the late Qing Dynasty, the government has often banned them. In 1950s, the government strengthened organization and guidance, but the fighting failed to be eradicated. Since it was banned in the 1980s, it has never been revived (farmers and citizens are busy with farming and business, and lack of leisure is also one of the reasons).
Mid-Autumn Festival (August 15)
In ancient times, vermicelli was used to make moon cakes, and guests and friends were invited to enjoy the moon in the evening, or the moon was enjoyed by the river by pillars. Joy, singing and drinking. Now tea shops make sesame moon cakes, and residents buy moon cakes and give them to each other. The "hollow moon cake" made by Ruian Tea Shop is a specialty of Ruian. There are also large and small moon cakes hanging on each other, called "moon sets" (cakes), which are sold all over southern Zhejiang. Li Datong, a century-old shop, is the most famous. Swiss people living in Taiwan Province Province love moon cakes in this hometown. Since the 1980s, every Mid-Autumn Festival, CPPCC and other units will invite overseas Chinese and their relatives in Switzerland, compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan and their families to hold a forum to show that the motherland and hometown will not forget wandering and to comfort their homesickness.
