What are the wedding customs in China?

The traditional wedding customs in China include: three six gifts, a bed, a bridal chamber, a dowry, a head and a red umbrella.

Three copies of six gifts: three copies, including the letter of appointment, the letter of gift and the letter of welcome, refer to the documents exchanged during the engagement. "Letter of appointment"-letter of appointment, exchanged at the time of engagement; "Gift Book"-a list of gifts, which lists the types and quantities of gifts and will be exchanged when giving gifts; "Wedding Book"-a book for marrying the bride, which is used when picking up the bride on the wedding day. Six rites refer to all the procedures from finding relatives to matchmaking to getting married. It includes six steps: recruiting, asking names, Najib, recruiting, inviting dates and welcoming people.

Bed-fixing: A few days before the wedding, choose an auspicious day, spread sheets on the new bed of the couple, then spread a dragon and phoenix quilt, and sprinkle all kinds of happy fruits, such as peanuts, red dates, longan and lotus seeds. In other words, the couple will have a baby early. Those who do these things must be good people with living parents, complete brothers and sisters and harmonious families, because only in this way can they bring good luck to the newcomers.

Making trouble in the bridal chamber: Old people think that if the couple don't make trouble, the trouble will be even greater. They also think that making trouble in the bridal chamber can ward off evil spirits and avoid disasters, and they will be blessed after marriage.

Dowry: Dowry is usually delivered to the husband's family the day before the wedding. The amount of dowry represents the status and wealth of the woman's family. Generally, in addition to clothes and accessories, there are some things that symbolize better clothes and costumes, such as scissors, vases, flowers, shoes, etc., which all depend on local customs and habits.

Above: Choose an auspicious day before marriage. Both men and women will comb their hair by a woman who combs their hair in their own homes, and at the same time loudly say: comb it to the end, comb it to Qi Mei with white hair, comb it to the children and grandchildren, and comb it to four silver bamboo shoots with four combs.

Hold a red umbrella: On the wedding day, the bride stands in the open air, and the sisters or bridesmaids hold a red umbrella on the bride's head, which means "spreading the branches and leaves" and scattering rice to the sky and the top of the umbrella.
