What does plum blossom mean? The plum blossom at the end of the plum season is also called "broken plum blossom", which is the end date of plum rain in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River in early summer. During the Meiyu period, the Meiyu front system and the main rain belt obviously moved out of the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River. If there are less than two rainy days in the five days in this area, the maximum temperature of each station in this area will obviously rise above 30℃, and the southerly wind speed on the ground will also obviously increase, so it will be designated as plum blossom.
Meiyu seasonal distribution area Meiyu mainly appears in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River in China and the southernmost part of Taiwan Province Province, Liaodong Peninsula, Korean Peninsula and south-central Japan in the subtropical monsoon climate zone. There is no plum rain in other parts of the world at the same latitude. There is no obvious plum rain in South China.

Causes of Meiyu season Every year from late April to early May, cold air from the north and warm air from the south meet in South China, forming a quasi-static front in South China. By the end of May, the influence of warm air was strengthened, and the quasi-static front moved northward to Jianghuai area, becoming the quasi-static front of Jianghuai (also known as Meiyu front). Because the warm air from the south carries a lot of water vapor, when it meets the cold air mass, it will produce a lot of convection activities. Because of the equal influence of cold and warm air during this period, the front stays in Jianghuai area.
