Tongren people in Guizhou have many special customs when they get married. There are mainly the following points: First, singing and confinement. Young men should choose their partners in the way of "singing folk songs and confinement", then go through the process of finding relatives, betrothal and engagement as in the past, and finally hold a wedding on an auspicious day.

Second, the bride enters the door on time according to the chosen auspicious time. On the night of the wedding, the groom's family invited the bride to meet the bride, and the bride invited "Shang Ga" (a Dong singer) and several married sisters to go to the groom's house with the bride. Fourth, don't enter the bridal chamber that day. The bride doesn't go to the wedding with the groom, or go into the bridal chamber, or spend the night with the groom. Instead, she sang pipa and wine songs with the male singer invited by the groom and "Shangga" and her married sisters until dawn. The next day, the groom and his companions sent the bride and "Shangga" and the girl they married back to their parents' home (called "transfer friends" in Dong language), and the wedding was over.

Fifth, the bride "changed for the better" at her in-laws' home and then stayed at her parents' home. I used to live in my parents' house for more than three years, but now I have to turn over for at least one year.
