Residential customs of new houses in Zhanjiang, Guangdong Province

The occupation here in Zhanjiang also depends on where people come from, and different places have different customs.

Take the urban area as an example, prepare several kerosene lamps (as many rooms as there are in your house), a bag of white rice, which says "Happy housewarming, celebrate your new house", a basket of fruit (preferably grapefruit), boiled sugar porridge (just add a piece of sugar to cook it like zongzi and maltose), bowls and chopsticks, and some clothes. These things had better be packed in boxes. Choose a good auspicious day to enter the house. Generally, the elders are in front and the children are behind. Before entering the house, light the kerosene lamp. According to the old custom, borrowing fire from families with more money and high status in the circle of friends means that Ding and Cai Xingwang will live in a new house (of course, it can be simplified appropriately now). After entering the room, put kerosene lamps in every room (remember! Take the oil away when the lamp is dry. Don't go out halfway, otherwise it means bad luck. Turn on the fan, put a pot of sugar porridge on the stove as soon as you get into the kitchen, preheat the fire, set off firecrackers if possible, and then entertain the guests, let them eat your cooked sugar porridge first, and then start the banquet.
