The worship of gods in Shanghai Chenghuang Temple.

The plaque of "City God Temple" is hung on the main entrance of the main hall, and it is equipped with a couplet of "Be a good person, live a peaceful life, do something good and learn from ghosts and gods". In the main hall, there is a statue of General Huo Guang, the God of Jinshan in Han Dynasty. The left is judge Wen, the right is judge Wu, followed by day patrol and night patrol, and the next is eight in the morning. On the first pair of columns, there is a couplet "Ling Wei has made outstanding contributions to protecting the country and saving the world, and the holy road has given manna to save the people" to praise the achievements of the city god, and there is a "herder" plaque hanging on it. On the second column, a couplet is hung, warning the world that "if a son marries cheaply, it will inevitably be abolished, and if his wife and daughter commit adultery, how can they be chaste?" The main hall of Chenghuang Temple existed in Yongle period of Ming Dynasty. At that time, Zhang Shouyue, the magistrate of Shanghai, rebuilt the Jinshan Temple dedicated to Huo Guang, the God of Jinshan, into the main hall of the Shanghai City God Temple, where Huo Guang, the God of Jinshan, was still dedicated. 1924 was destroyed by fire, 1926 began to rebuild, and 1927 was completed. The main hall of the Chenghuang Temple, rebuilt by 1926, is an antique hall, all of which are reinforced concrete structures.

Chenyuan temple

Chen Yuantang: Also known as Sixty Jiazitang. "Yuan" means "kindness" and "Chen Yuan" means auspicious day. Chen Yuanshen is an ancient god in China, which is related to the annual wealth of everyone in China. In ancient China, heavenly stems and earthly branches matched the children from Jiazi to Guihai in a cycle, taking sixty as a week, so it was also called Sixty Jiazi. Since then, Taoism has used sixty jiazi to match the name of God, thus forming Chen Yuan's Taoist belief. Because the 60-year-old god is a star god, it is also called the traditional god. In the folk, it means that people refer to the Tai Sui God corresponding to a year of 60 Chen Yuan as Tai Sui, and the Tai Sui God corresponding to the year when I was born as the core memorial of life. Every year, believers worship the core memorial of life in Tai Sui, and the ceremony of praying for peace and good luck is called anterograde.

Cihang temple

Cihang Hall: Cihang Hall is dedicated to Goddess Eye (attending eye diseases), Master Cihang (peace) and Tianhou (peace at sea).

Caishendian

Temple of the God of Wealth: The Temple of the God of Wealth worships the God of Wealth, the immortals who make money, the immortals who enter the treasure, Lishi Xian Guan and Nazhen.

Town God's Temple

Chenghuang Temple: The last temple in Chenghuang Temple is Chenghuang Temple. Couplets are hung on both sides of the Town God Temple to praise the justice of the Town God. "The fortunes here are clear, the clues are difficult to pass, and the judgment of good and evil should be selfless." The plaque reads "Ling Wei is outstanding". There is also a couplet praising God in the temple, which says, "Heaven is selfless, good or bad luck is auspicious, good or bad luck is predicted, immortals should learn evil, be loyal and treacherous". In the middle of the Town God Temple, there is a red-faced wood carving statue of the Town God of Shanghai County, sitting in a dangerous position. In the Chenghuang Temple, the sacrificial ceremony was strict, imitating the furnishings of the county court in the Ming Dynasty.

Niangniangdian

Niangniang Temple: To the west of the Chenghuang Temple is the Niangniang Temple, which is dedicated to the wife of Shen Chu of Shanghai County.

Parent temple

Parents' Hall: East of the Town God Hall is the parents' hall, dedicated to the parents of the Town God in Shanghai County.

Wenchang temple

Wenchang Hall is dedicated to Emperor Wenchang, who is called deaf in the sky and dumb in the ground.
