How to evaluate the novel The Bell at Midnight?

Once I was scared by the movie version of Midnight, and then I was very afraid of the image of Sadako. The phantom of convulsion and struggle lingers in my heart. Nearly ten years later, I tried to read The Lord of the Rings at Midnight, only to find that the film was completely misinterpreted, or escaped from the central idea of the novel, and gave up thinking about life, discussing the good and evil of human nature, questioning and saving the whole world, and those touching stories in the novel just for the sake of terror. To be exact, novels are suspense, reasoning, thriller and science fiction, while movies remove science fiction and some warmth elements. This movie is an excellent horror movie. After reading the novel, the original fear turned into infinite emotion and inexplicable loss.
