Zhou Guoxing's Major Achievements

I spent my primary and secondary school days in my hometown. I studied under the anthropologist Professor Wu in Fudan University 1957, majoring in physical anthropology. 1962 After graduation, he was employed by vertebrate paleontology Institute of Paleoanthropology, Chinese Academy of Sciences to study paleoanthropology and prehistoric archaeology. From 1979 to beijing museum of natural history to study anthropology and museums, the period is 1985- 1992. In the 35-year-long study of paleoanthropology and prehistoric archaeology, he has achieved fruitful results: on the issue of the cultural origin of China in the early and middle period, he advocated the "multi-source theory" and formally put forward the argument that "the Yangtze River basin is also the cradle of ancient civilization in China" at the academic level. Based on the detailed study of Yuanmou man's fossils, as well as the rich data and scientific arguments obtained from the long-term investigation in Yuanmou Basin, the beginning of China's history has been firmly pushed forward to 1.7 million years ago.

Yuanmou and his cultural research won the Beijing Science and Technology Achievement Award and the first prize of the Ministry of Geology and Mineral Resources. He climbed the Pamirs five times, studied Tajiks in Xinjiang, China, and proved that they were the only white indigenous representatives in China and descendants of ancient Aryans.

The prehistoric site of Jizhgara was discovered on the east bank of Tashkurgan River, which is of great value.

Starting from 198 1, a model of "Bailiandong Culture Series" was established through a detailed study of Liuzhou prehistoric sites, which confirmed the real existence of the Mesolithic culture in southern China and attracted the attention of academic circles at home and abroad. Two important Mesolithic sites were discovered in Xuchang, Henan and Yuanmou, Yunnan: Jing Ling and Great Wu Na.

In the theoretical study of human origin, it is pointed out that "labor" is a unique "adaptive means" of human beings, and it has two forms. The primary labor form plays an important role in promoting the transformation from apes to humans, but the advanced labor form is created by human beings, and the intelligence and sexual factors of human ancestors play a powerful role in this transformation. In the research and practice of museology, through its initiative and participation, seven museums, including the Cave Science Museum and the Textile Museum, have been established, which have also made important contributions to the development of beijing museum of natural history and the revival of Nantong's natural history. It has also achieved fruitful results in the popularization of scientific knowledge, published a large number of popular science works and held many popular science exhibitions, and was approved as an "excellent popular science writer" by the Third National Congress of the Chinese Popular Science Writers Association.
